DEMO REELS

.
Main Page

While your headshots will show casting directors what you look like, it is also important that they see how you are able to move and speak on camera.

Established actors make it a point to have a demo reel that is continually updated with their most recent scenes, and use this as a tool just as they use their headshots. Often, actors will have a variety of demo reels, showcasing different kinds of roles they are able to play, such as comedy, drama, period pieces, etc. By having several reels, you can more accurately target the kind of acting a casting director may be looking for in a character.

If you don’t have any material for a demo reel, you may want to put together a monologue, or perform a scene in front of a camera to have something on tape for a casting director to see. Many production companies offer discounts to actors for these kinds of services, but don’t base your decision solely on price. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Check around, and compare more than prices. Find out what kind of experience the company has, and be willing to pay a little more if you feel comfortable with a particular company.
